RECC conducts Research and provides Advice in building technology, project and facility management and maintenance, feasibility and life cycle cost studies, tendering strategies, defects assessment and dispute resolution. Projects in Singapore invariably involve a team of local and overseas experts. Significant projects undertaken by the Centre include the following:
- Condition Assessment of Monuments and Conservation Buildings
- Developing a Tendering Strategy for high risk projects such as Upgrading of Public Housing and Refurbishment of Airport Terminals while the buildings are occupied
- Investigating, Mediating and Resolving a Defects claim amounting to several million dollars for a Statutory Board
- Development of an Office Space Management Framework and Process Model for a Ministry
- Development of a Building Maintenance Policy and Information System for a Tertiary Institution
- Development of a Property Asset Health Management Policy for a large Hong Kong Client
RECC Director Dr Quah was involved in leading a number of large EU research projects involving practitioners and researchers from several EU countries. The projects sought to develop strategies and technologies in the following fields of applied science:
- Condition Assessment and Maintenance Strategies for Buildings & Building Components
- Protocol and Management Information System for IAQ Management in Building Refurbishment
- Socio-Technological-Commercial Framework and Decision Support System for Building Refurbishment
- Social-Technological-Commercial Process Model and Supporting Communication/ Information System for Design and Delivery of Industrialised, Flexible and Durable Buildings
On 25 February 2011, RECC entered into a Teaming Agreement with Iskandar Malaysia UTM Research Centre (IMREC) to collaborate in implementing the Skills Upgrading & Job Creation Programme for Real Estate and Facilities Management for the Iskandar Regional Development Authority, Ministry of Human Resource and the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia.
